North Aurora
is a village located in Kane County, Illinois. North Aurora was known in its
early history as "Schneider's Mill" and "Schneider's
Crossing" after German immigrant John Peter
Schneider established a mill and dam on the Fox River in 1834. Schneider
now lends his name to a local elementary school located on the east side of the
Fox River.
